I just got the new iPad 4 gen and want a Nav app for it any thoughts on which one? I've had the navionics on my iPhone but now it's Hd for iPad and will have to purchase it again. Before I do,would like to find out if there are any other options that are better/worse. Personal experience and so on.
I have been running the Navionics on my 1st gen Ipad since I got it. I was happier with the original versions which I still have, but they no longer support. I have a newer HD version and it seems to crash more often and I don't like the way the features are set up as well. I have recently been thinking of trying ENC out, and have a friend that likes it. I've played around with it briefly and it seems to be pretty good. I haven't gotten to play with all of the features, so I'm not sure whether I'll like the layout of it or not. Best of luck, Trig
Check out ActiveCaptain. Jeff is a software guru for all things that go on a marine screen. On the nav products page, scroll down until you get to Apple. While it's ActiveCaptain oriented, there's good summary info there. Judy
I have just been cking out active captain.....and it looks like it works with navimatics. Anyone have any experience with it? I also was ckin out INavX but ?? And also ones $25 and ones $50... Big difference in$ ...
I have both Navionics as well as INavX, and I think INavX is a better stand alone system because of route planning capabilities. I use Navionics more on my IPhone as a backup when I am on someone else's boat. Best, Maldwin
I like navionics better than iNavx. It's vector based. My company is launching a weather proof mounting solution (both surface and flush mount) tomorrow at CES. The design goal was to have it integrate so well it doesn't look like an iPad. I'll post some pics once its public.
Looking into it more with the technology of iPads it would seem like a vector base charting would be better?
I may have made an error in my last post. I think I have Navionics layered over INavX, which I bought through Xtraverse. Separately I have a Navionics app. I also have MacEnc on my laptop. What I probably need is a tutor to help me sort it out. Best, Maldwin
