Hi everyone, I am looking at purchasing a Carver 36 aft cabin. Any idea how much it costs to have an engine room Halon fire bottle serviced. Also where does one take or send the bottle? Is it a simple matter to remove the bottle to have it serviced? I am aware that Halon is no longer manufactured. Thanks
Ask the marinia they should have a guy to check it out for you. It is done by weighing the extinguish. I had an 88 sea ray with halon the guy came out check it and tag it for $75
Ok thanks. What if the bottle comes in underweight? I assume it's then a matter of sending the bottle out and having it serviced. Just wondered if this is pricey?
I think if it is under that means it was used which I think you will be fine but if it was you might have to buy a new unit. The way I was told it is fine if its full but they can't fill it.
This was our first season with our 3207 which had a empty halon in the engine room, we couldn't get it re-charged. Bought a new fixed system which requires discharge indicators at each helm station. It is my understanding have to have the indicators. We bought a Fireboy-xiniex.
