    Hi,
I was wondering if anyboady had info on yacht clubs they could share. We are looking into buying a Lagoon 421/450 for the purpose of living off the hook and spending our retirement traveling the world. We have spent most of our lives traveling and do not like being stuck in one place. We are both former sailors so we know what it means to live out at sea. So I was thinking joining a yacht club may be a good idea for our family, if nothing else for reciprocity from what I understand so far. I have come to a road block in my research as far as facilities, benefits and cost. Niether of us know anyone in the community so we have no guidance. We plan on spending most of our time in Europe and the South pacific/oceana so what ever yacht club we join we would ideally like them to have reciprocity in those areas. Can someone go over more of the benefits for liveaboard to join a yacht club thanks. Is there any benefit regarding port fees?

As Clubs go, the RCC may be a good choice. If you enjoy writing or taking pictures, they are a fine starting point to share your enjoyment.

The Royal Cruising Club is quite new, only founded as late as 1880. :)

Say, that looks pretty exclusive...membership limited to 400! Holy smokes. And only blow boats at that.

I am interested in this topic as well, but more specifically CONUS and the Bahamas so I'll throw my query in the ring.

It looks as if the OP is looking to benefit from reciprocity with distant ports. That would be my objective too. My specific question (in the US anyway) is if all YCs participate in reciprocity or rather are there different YC associations each with their own specific clubs?

    Hi,

The reciprocity of yacht clubs isn't like Frequent Flyer and Airline affiliation programs.

The US situation seems to be available here for $35. REGISTER OF AMERICAN YACHT CLUBS

I also see it on Itunes but don't know the price.

The best one I found with a bit of googling was the Annapolis Yacht Club that has a lot of US affiliations and a good selection of foreign ones as well.

    Annapolis Yacht Club sounds great

Thank you all for your post, the Annapolis Yacht Club is exactly what I am looking for, for me and my family. I wish they would post their rates, but they don't look out of reach for the average yacht owner. If anyone knows their rates and are allowed to share we would appreciate the info thanks. :)
