Before those points, the boat should have operating emergency equipment and you should know how to handle them under pressure, you will need a ditch bag and an operational life raft. Fire management is a great deal on its own, automatic is not enough, it should be automatic, redundant and have an auxiliary or backup system, and you should know how to handle all under pressure and any condition, not to mention that the placement of those systems is as crucial as having them aboard, they have to be accessible and easily operable.
An auto pilot will require a good charting system and I would never leave the paper charts behind, you can even get them waterproof (add a cover for that because they are not scratch proof!). If you will use spot to connect with friends then it would be nice, otherwise you will be charged for private services in case of emergency so watch out!

    Stay safe.

    Cheers,

think ''toothache'' or ''chest pains''...then come back to earth..:)
  3. no. not sure why you would think that. sorry for late responses, I didn't have e-mail notificatons setup.
  4. Good points. I'm just not aware at all with what's involved. For instance even anchoring is a huge thing I wondered about. Thought it might be possible to just drop anchor and go sleep or relax in jacuzzi.

Emergency situations are definitely important to consider. It's sounding like solo yachting maybe isn't that feasible. Thanks for sharing feedback though.

Being solo, guess who gets to stand watch when at anchor?!
