I have a 4207 carver 1989 listing to starboard when docked. Does anybody else have this problem.

I am not familuar with Carvers.

The usual cause is water tanks, fuel tanks, holding tanks, or even loading too much stuff on one side of the boat.....

fill all water tanks, fill all fuel, and empty holding tank.....see what happens.....
also check how much stuff is on the boat.

I saw a post once that said, "I go through the boat every fall before lay up, and if there is something i did not use other than safety equipment, i put it back on land" I like that rule, except for tools, safety gear, and necessary spare parts.....

I have a 4207 and have the same problem. Very slight list to Starboard and it bugs me to no end. I do have a crane winch on the Starboard side and am sure that sucker is heavy---that might be it?

A constant list is easy enough to fix.....Either move stowed stuff to the port side, or put lead bars in the port side usually midships or further aft until the boat is balanced. Just make sure they're secure and won't bang around.....

A list can develop when gear is added over the years. It doesn't take much and a davit can definitely cause a small list

Obviously it the list is new and nothing has changed make sure there isn't another issue like water trapped behind a stringer or worst

Lead bars are the easiest way to correct a list but somtimes you can correct it by moving batteries or adding batteries to a house bank, something often undersized on many smaller production boats

I ran a boat once that would list towards the tie-up side (floating docks!), except when the fuel tanks were full. I closed the fuel cross over valve after filling, and the list went away at all subsequent fuel levels. Just a thought that may help if you have twin fuel tanks or multiple water tanks.

We have a 1989 3807 Carver. I also noticed a 2 deg. list to starboard last fall when we left on an extended trip (1000 miles). After about 500 miles and at anchor one evening, I did some poking around. I discovered under both galley seats, enough canned food to provision us for a circumnavigation of the earth. I moved half of it to the cabinet under the sink. Now the list is still present but not as obvious (> 1/2 deg). Anyone need a can of peas?

same problem here. i assumed it was the fresh water holding tank which I always have full. additionally if you think about it there is more weight on that side. my futon, two ice makers two fridges are all starboard which adds significant weight

My 370 will list to starboard if the water tank is empty as well as a friends 440 Carver. Fill the water tank up and see what happens, at least you will know!

Our GB did it to the side the davit was mounted with near empty tanks and not much gear on board. It was ever so slight, but noticeable only and if it was pointed out to you. At least it was to me, however I'm biased.

So in short, yes, your davit may be the culprit. She had the Ritex 3,000lb stainless version. I don't know the weight of the davit itself, but perhaps a search of your manufactures info may turn up some info.

Counter that with some fuel on the port tank and see if she rights herself.

3607 list to STBD but both helms and galley are on that side, and only the heads and two ac's on the port, I think two group 31's should fix it...:)
