We're at Cuttyhunk, MA. harbor and heard of a sportfisher going on the reef on Wednesday in the afternoon. The next day, there was a tug with barge and crane off the beach lifting the boat. I could see that it had lift bags hanging from it as it was hoisted from the water, and as the crane was starting to rotate the load onto the barge, something let go and the boat fell back onto the rocks. Even at 1/3 nm away, it was very loud "CRUNCH". They lifted the boat again and took off for New Bedford, with the thing hanging in the slings over the water. The first picture shows the second lift. It would seem that there was a crane problem allowing the load to plummet and preventing it from being brought aboard the barge. The second picture shows the tug and barge underway.
I'm sorry that I don't have more information or better pictures.

Terrible how these rocks keep shifting with the tides and current, isn't it? You never know where they re going to pop next :)

I love Cuttyhunk, one of my favorite spot up north

I've been told that it was "Sow and Pigs", but I have no personal knowledge of that. The attached will show the general recovery area, as near as I can estimate from my position on the flybridge of a motoryacht tied at the town fish pier.
