Abeking & Rasmussen; Bare Hull #6494

    Looks like Abeking & Rasmussen splashed an 87-meter canoe made of steel. This is reportedly the first of a new line of yachts for them...

    A new 87m line, really? I am shure A&R has only facilities for yachts up to 80m but perhaps you know more than I. However the hull was more than likely towed from Bremerhaven (Subcontractor) to A&R and the superstructure built by Abeking & Rasmussen will probably be lifted on the hull very soon, so keep an eye on that guys.

    Do we know what the superstructure might end up looking like? The shape of the hull looks nice (trying to imagine it sitting lower in the water) but with a proportionately low superstructure it may end up looking very beautiful indeed.

    Your reservations were right Milow. Looks like the actual length may be closer to 82-meters, which will make it the largest A & R to date.

    I have heard that there is more than one of these on the way so how different were the Hull No's you have heard?

    #6497 and #6498 for the two 81m I have heard of. #6493 is supposed to be another 78m line. I am not sure what else they have under construction. Maybe my numbers are off or the discrepancy comes from hulls not in the megayacht sector.

    Carl have you or your Editorial staff received pics of her with the superstructure already melted or do you know at least when the assembly of hull and superstructure is sheduled to take place?

    August is historically a slow time in the industry, with everyone gearing up for boat shows starting in Sept. I've been tackling some other projects I haven't been following up with yards. I'll know more when I return from Monaco next month.

    I have seen the same hull numbers as what they have in build.

    6493 was designed by Reymond Langton Design, with a steel hull, aluminum superstructure, flagged in the Cayman Islands, in Georgetown, IMO 1011795.

    The naval architect for 6497 and 6498 is Abeking & Rasmussen.

    The yard number list on their website has not been updated since hull 6495 a 25m Swath from 2011.

    You will find that all Naval Architecture for vessels built at Abeking and Rasmussen is done inhouse.

    Reymond Langton and the other Stylists do not provide Naval Architecture services as far as I am aware.

    Yes, A&R are the naval architects on 6493 as on all of their builds as you point out and Reymond Langton was the designer, to be specific, of the exterior of 6493.

    The listing I saw did not mention a designer of the interior for 6493 although on other builds where Langton was listed as the exterior designer they were also the interior designer.

    I'm curious, what's with A&R not using a bulbous bow with the majority (if not all) of their projects?
