    Hi,
I am looking for a door handle like the one shown in the photo.

It is to be used on an outside door and to allow a screen door to close over the frame around it which is why it needs to be low profile.

Has anyone seen something like this or can put me in touch with a company that has them?

    Hi there,

Check this site and search for "Low profile, offset, recessed or pocket latches" they will do the trick. (Sometimes the pictures fool the eye, so check the dimensions for better results).

Hope it would be of good use.

    Cheers,

I would try Izerwaren Inc first. If they don't have it, they will probably be able to guide you.

This looks close to your pic, handle-wise, from Ken's suggestion:

    Hi,

Thanks guys, I have actually measured the amount of clearance I have and to my horror have found that I only have 11mm(7/16") to play with.

With this in mind I think I will buy another handle and cut down the bit that sticks out and drill and tap for a bolt in the side to clamp it to the shaft, making use of the bolt itself as the handle.

I have also looked at glueing some type of spacer of 2 or 3mm to the whole door frame to give a bit more space. Just have to find the right material.

This is for the back door leading to the garden at home, we had all the windows and doors replaced late last year and were not aware that fitting the screen door was going to pose such huge problems.

In summer we like to leave the door itself open when we are home and the cats can come and go as they please if it is just the screen to deal with.

My other half did not want a cat flap as she is worried about two legged cats getting in when I am away.

Then this little folding handle from Schwepper would do?

    Hi,

Lars, Could you please send me that image by E Mail. I can't read the dimensions on the one posted.

I guess you have to go with the flush stuff like Lars sent you, useful but not fun in time! Had one on the back door of my office (Hidden Latch), it worked very fine but I did'nt like it!

    Good luck with your choice.

    Cheers.
