    Carl, Tom--where are you?
Where's the pics of all the good-looking stuff and, of course, the babes?

Some minor observations for those of you in need of warmth and succor.

The weather; gorgeous, Chamber of Commerce kind of day for the show start--temps around 79F, plenty of sunshine and a light easterly breeze.

A quick walk from the parking garage on Royal Palm & 42nd, in the company of a pretty lady ( Hi Mai Thi!) working the Cranchi/Wider display. A good start.

Up the way from the southernmost display (Riviera), past the Ferretti (et. al.) site, including a 80 Enclosed Bridge Bertram and a 50, then up to Azimut/Benetti.
Undoubtedly, someone will offer up a pic of the "Diamonds Are Forever", her bow facing the street, arching up to the clouds...wow, that alone worth a visit.

The floating docks begin around the Allied display. Met quite a few old friends in the business and interestingly, we had lengthy conversations without interruptions from potential customers. Hmm.

There are fewer brokerages in evidence, but still plenty of boats with only a few open spaces. Asking prices are still, IMO, too high to warrant any excitement. Don't think any sales records will be broken this year.

The most activity seemed to be taking place at the Viking and Hatteras factory displays. The brokerage display tents had lots of ....brokers.

At the north end, where the Trawlerfest boats congregated, and where Kadey Krogen exhibited some new models, there were a few sets of shoes on the swim platforms. Interested lookers?

Spent some time catching up with a delivery skipper friend of mine over an $8.00 bottle of Special Water (Show Management brand). Normally very busy, he has time to ride his Harley these days. Just in case you were wondering how they move all those 125+-footers into place without issues, his boat was dinged (3 cm.) by the behemoth moving in next to him; all settled amicably.

A sad note from a true foodie; the smells of charcoal smoke, 'burgers sizzling, BBQ chicken, Greek souvlaki aromas--absent this year.

A positive note, though: in the past, when Nature called, you'd have to run across Collins Avenue to a hotel or to the stinky toilet trailers up at the main parking lot. This year, there were sprinkled about on the business side of the street these smaller units that were clean and with classical music piped in. Veddy civilized, don't you know. For the uninitiated, you CANNOT pee in any of the boats in the show. Verboten!

Didn't ride a bus (there were lots of these in evidence) running to all the various show sites to or fro my parked car (in the shade), looked at everything, yakked with everybody, took my time, and made it back to the car in about three hours.

Paid three bucks to park which made for a happy end of the day.

    Hey Loren,
I'm alive and well and back from six days of covering the Miami Yacht & Brokerage show for the publication I work for (we do a paper everyday of the show that goes to crew and brokers. Fun stuff but many hours).
Didn't have a chance to do "live" coverage for YF, but I'm here to share some of the visual goings-on at the event.
In case you missed it, the weather was great, seemingly less strollers and tire kickers on the docks Sat and Sun, and yachts were sold. Good for the sellers, good for the industry.
Kudos to discokachina for posting photos of the yachts returning from the show. Let me start at the beginning, on Wednesday, prep day.

Yachts are docked and flags in place, as evident by the bright yellow used by *****

So that's where the chairs go when not on deck

Time to put the name back on

    An oldie but a goodie

No matter how you wrap it, it's still a toe buster

    Bertram's big 80-footer

Lazzara's new 92 with enclosure (more to come on that yacht)

It's not a boat show without some pricey cars

    PPRRIICCEEYY!

    Hi CaptTom,

Glad to hear from you, was afraid you had fallen off the map! You look mighty fine sittin in that Rolls! Although the Lambo might be more to your taste!!

Thanks for posting the stern of Gazelle. I have always wondered how much space there was on her rear deck, does not look like too much.

    Keep those great shots coming!

Tucked way down Indian Creek towards the south end where mega-yachts hardly ever cast a shadow on the docks, there she was. The Queen of the Show that's owned by the king of yachts.
M/Y Diamonds Are Forever is a Benetti that measures in at 200'. Take in these sights. There will be more of DAF such as the night shots.

Any guesses on the name of this yacht? Let's see if anyone hits it

    One Viking...

Two Vikings. White Vikings, blue Vikings.

    A broker practicing safe boating?

For my YF friends stuck in the colder climates at this time of the year, let me share with you the South Florida scene you are missing. Temps are still in the upper 70's/lower 80's and it's our dry season, so storms are far a few between.
These are from the hotel room. Certainly a room with a view. Great for sunsets, also.

    Lots of water toys here

Night time was the right time for parties. Here's the band at the fundraiser event for Shake-A-Leg/Miami. Shake-A-Leg is a water sports community center and their specialty is working with people with physical, developmental and economic challenges.

Entertainmant onboard M/Y Carpe Diem for a private gathering.

And speaking of night time, it's time for some ...

Hatteras GT 63 with enclosed flybridge. Did a sea trial on it yesterday and it is quiet up there with good visibility.

Thanks to CaptTom for more awesome show coverage, commentary and pics. You are right, NASCAR drivers did not make any money on Mondays.

It is well known NASCAR lore that Sunday was the most lucrative day of the week for Earnhardt and is the reason he named his yacht Sunday Money.

Someone even wrote a song about it and here it is: Dale Earnhardt 2012 new tribute - Sunday Money -Brooks & Dunn - YouTube

Earnhardt gained a reputation as an aggressive driver and became known as the Intimidator. His company licensed his moniker to many ventures including Gambler Boats who until this day produce a popular bass boat called "The Dale Earnhardt Limited Edition". Hold on to your hats, this baby quite literally flies! LANCHA GAMBLER INTIMIDATOR.MPG - YouTube

M/Y Lukousaurus aka Frozen Assets is a 1996 87' Broward that sleeps 8 guests and is on the market for $1,695,000.00? From the pictures she seems to be a very nicely kept Broward.

Cool light up name that glows in different colors. Deck and arch lights change with it.

    On the outside looking in

    Clean bow on Allegria

Remember When yachts were not this big?

Heavy metal at the MTU display. That's a V-20 by the way

Okay, more photos over the weekend
