Since on the topic, at least somewhat, what are the different (similar) types of protection/maintenance/running mats that yachts have?

When involved in private aviation we used to have maintenance runners for whenever the jet is out of service. I suppose this would be good in some areas for yachts too and would like to look at options. (to have service people be able to board with their work close, etc, and not be completely freaking out the crew)

It would have to be different for indoor and outdoor obviously. Custom cut will probably be best...even though some "custom cutting" may just be the crew cut it...

Any brands/materials you guys can recommend? for covering the teak deck, carpets?

Anyone have experience with anything slightly more durable/presentable for entertaining semi-unruly people? (obviously we never want unrulies aboard, but when you have a lagrer-ish group, one thing or another can get spilled. a protective mat of sorts on the delicate teak would make crew and guests alike more at ease. smoking protection is also a plus that comes to mind should someone drop a cigarette or worse a cigar for more than a split second)...

Any ideas? Comments on the ease of storage of these solutions would be cool too...

I always put down that thin plastic carpet covering for the off-season. Many boats use canvas carpet covers that snap in place for in-season, but they cost almost as much as new carpet. ScotchGuard is a wonderful invention. Last year we had a guest dump a jar of salsa. Quick clean-up followed by a professional cleaning was all that saved us. Many boats keep a basket at the salon entry for shoes. As for teak, there's nothing much to do that I know of other than ask for boat shoes, restrict smoking, keep teak cleaner, oil and some fine sand paper on hand. Sometimes that thick blue plastic is used at shows, but you'd never have it on a boat in use. Stregically placed mats also help.

You're looking for Teproflow Wet/Dry vinyl matting...comes in rolls in a variety of widths that you can cut/shape to your need.

You might look at the truck bed liner. I saw it in a roll at Tractor Supply Co. Two days ago and not a bad price.

i go to home depo and buy the 3 ft square black mats that are rubber and thy work just fine cut to fit
