    Hello All,

I was wanting to know if anyone on this site owns or knows anything about Hunt Yachts based out of Road Island, USA. I am thinking about buying a Hunt 68' boat and wanted to hear from you all. I feel like it is a bit on the higher side as price goes but just maybe they are worth it. Any feed back would be helpful.

    Thank you for your time,

    KK

    Welcome to YF.

Raymond Hunt was one of America's most repected designers and his yachts are known worldwide. The price you pay is mostly equal to the quality and thought thats goes into his boats. His team continue the good work with his hull form.

Do you own a Hunt Yacht or do you work for the Hunt yard?

Nope, just an appreciator of the deep-V hull form that made boating the fun it is today.

    C. Raymond Hunt and Associates is a naval architecture firm with offices in New Bedford, Mass.
    C. Raymond Hunt Associates, Naval Architects/Yacht Design

They design custom and production yachts.

Hunt Yachts started building yachts designed by C. Raymond Hunt and Associates in the 20 and 30 foot range, which I have been aboard, and was impressed by their fit and finish. They have since started building larger boats, which I have not personally seen, but from the pictures available online they do look like a very high quality product.

Is this the 68 footer you are interested in?

Hunt does not build the 68' in house, it initially came on the market as the global arrow, built in Taiwan by the "global" shipyard. Global Yacht Builders ?????????? - Company info

I have never been aboard, but they seem to be beautiful boats!

The one I know was a blue hull, maybe a little bigger but was a Ray Hunt and beautifully finished. It used to be stern-to near the Soggy Dollar Bar in St.Maartens in the late '90s.

    Ring any bells?

The Hunt Hinckley is a one-off, there is no sistership.

I think there are about 5 or 6 yachts that were built all using the same mold, originally built for Lee Wilbur of Southwest Harbor, Maine if my memory serves me correctly.

"Excel" was another, built in the late 80's.

And, there is an Arneson drive version as well.

    Whaler 13... best design ever!

I have a 1972 13' Whaler with a '72 25HP Evinrude at my summer home... and I spend just about every day on it when I'm there. I like to think the appreciation of the simpler pleasures is a sign of aging gracefully... bottom line, the basic whaler design is a classic, and I prefer the old 72 to a newer one (and was **** lucky to find the one I have...), and in the last 5 years I have has many pleasant memories on her as I do on larger chartered yachts.

As to the Hunt reputation... I grew up around Cape Cod / Rhode Island and his designs were always considered among the best. My home base in Maine is around the corner from Lyman Morse, they run a top-notch operation. Not familiar with Hunt Yachts as a construction yard... but the pedigree would point toward quality.

That is the boat that I am thinking about. I want the fly bridge option however.

    The Hunt 68...

The Hunt 68 (nee Global Arrow) is an Express Cruiser. I don't see any indication they will be offering it in a flybridge option or version?

Woops, edit: Found some renderings on the global web site:

Nice looking yacht, but doesnt look like it is in production as yet.
