I thnk the boat your are asking about was a 60 Hatteras named Grunt. It burned up in Cherry Cove, Catalina and now sits in Boat Yard for sale.

This Bertram is on the Gangway next to me and is still there.

These are recent photos of my 1984 Bertam 46.6 "Rascal" one running in the Keys and the other anchored at Waderwick Wells in the Exumas Land & Sea Park. Rascal is powered by DDA 8V-92s rated @ 600 HP. She cruises at 20-21 knots at 2000 RPMs and has a top speed of 26.5 knots @ 2350 RPMs. 2950 total hours.
She has comfortably and ably cruised all of the Abacos, Eluethera, Exumas, Andros, the Berry Islands and everything in between with my family of three including our Black Laborador. In the states she has gone as far north as Jacksonville and south to Key West.
Being a great offshore and head sea boat, she has served us well even in the most challenging conditions.
We purchased her in 1993 following the loss of our Bertam 38 sportfish at the Ocean Reef Club in Key Largo during Hurricane Andrew. During our 17 years of ownership, we have either rebuilt or replaced every system onboard and upgraded whenever reasonably possible. She continues to be a source of family enjoyment and provides a great fishing/diving/partying/cruising platform.
We have recently added a 11 foot Avon RIB and davit after towing a Mako 17 for 15 years. We are hoping to upgrade someday to another good seaboat to make room for grandchildren.

This is my 1996 Bertram 46 returning to port during a fishing tournament. Many systems and electronics updates since then running on MAN 820's which do 32Kts WOT and an easy 23 Kts cruise at 1700. Great boat.

Yes ... it will be in perfect condition ... all issues addressed by restoration or replacement. I look forward to cruising it down to Puerto Rico and the area someday! It is indeed a very special boat to me ... as is my Bertram 28!

The style of the Berts in these pictures are the best ones out there.
These are the Bertams I remeber as the bullet proof battle wagons.
    Great pictures.

    1986 54' Bertram

Bought this one 2 years ago. I was told her original owner was Jimmy *****, the car salesman billionaire. Name of the Boat back then was "Amazing". Then Jimmy sold it to one of his partners who named her "Double Eagle". Next she was named Sea Horse and now She is OZENA.

In the process of updating her and new to this forum.

    Regards,
    Ozzy

    my 87 Bertram 46.6

After flipping a bunch of large Sea Rays and a 4yr project on a 422 Chris, I finally got what I really wanted, a Bertram. Brought this boat down from NY. It has never been fished. In the process of doing a fairly extensive update/refit on it.

28 with seadrives or a bracket

Do you recall Bertram and OMC getting together a building a few without the inboards and putting outboards on it?I have an '82 28 with a bracket. The guy I bought it from said it came like that, was not an aftermarket mod.I talked to a guy at the factory in Miami and they can't come up with much history.

I'm not sure of the year, but I think it was 1983. OMC sent their 28' Bertram to fish our tournament, the Pensacola International Billfish Tournament. It was a demo for Killinger Marine. And I remember it because a friend got to fish on the boat. He said it rode alot better than the 28' I had at the time because the hull had good speed. Not a fact, but legend has it OMC didn't tell Bertram what their plans were for the boat for fear of being told they wouldn't sell them the hull.

    OMC called their package 'SeaDrives'.
The 28s so equipped ran very fast and had exceptional range.
Their downfall was porous castings which led to numerous block failures and eventually the production was halted.
