  1. 2022 Mikelson Yachts Long Range M75
Mikelson Yachts is a boat company located in San Diego, California and they have been building yachts since 1981 so they have been around for a while. Their model portfolio currently consists of semi-custom cruisers and sportfish type yachts ranging from 43-feet all the way up to 75/7-feet. It is the Mikelson Long Range M75 that we are going to focus on in this article. The M75 is the current flagship of the Mikelson Yachts lineup and has seen quite a few of them delivered to customers. There is a 2022 build which is hull #016 of the Mikelson 75 Long-Range Luxury Sportfiser series.
  2. As it is a semi-custom build there is some leeway a customer has when it comes to choosing certain finishes and features. Mikelson says, "the buyer can still select many décor items, choose navigation electronics, and pick the tender to grace the foredeck!" This 2022 build will also be the fastest M75 to date as it is powered by a pair of diesel-run CAT C32 which are around 1,925 horse power each! This is optional power installed on this 2022 hull but there are other CAT engine power options available should an owner require a less powerful setup.
  3. The M75 is actually 77-feet long overall if you include the bow pulpit and swim step but 75-feet at the waterline. It has a beam of 19.5-feet and a draft that is under 6-feet. Construction is made in fiberglass. Freshwater tankage is approximately 1,591 LT while diesel-fuel storage is 11,819 LT. The displacement is generally above 105,000 lbs. The captain can enjoy nimble dexterity if the optional ProPilot system is installed. It can be added to most existing and any new Glendinning control systems on boats with inboard propulsion and bow/stern thrusters.
  4. Inside the M75 has comfortable accommodation for guests in three main staterooms and two crew staterooms. Mikelson says this helps to put them ahead of the competition. The fully enclosed airconditioned flybridge with a raised settee and table offers comfort and superb views! Four control stations (Main and aft flybridge, cockpit and Marlin Tower) gives the Captain tremendous options!
  5. With lesser CAT power built in the M75 should be able to reach 25-knots and with the C32 1925s it is certain the top end will be above 25-knots. However, the model name is Long Range and this comes alive when the vessel slowly cruises along at 10-knots. She almost gets a mile to the gallon and considering the M75 can carry nearly 12,000 LT of fuel that would be just over 2,600 gallons you then get start to form an idea on the kind of distance one can get out of this 75-footer if you have time on your side.
  6. Let's look at some other features of the M75. The vessel comes from a pedigree which Mikelson built-up from their sportfish experience. Yet the M75 is in an interesting position where although it can easily serve as a fishing platform, it is alot more than just a fisher so it can be termed a yachtfisher. On the fore deck there is a 1,500 lbs capacity crane there suitable for perhaps a tender up to 15-feet. The wheelhouse area is fully enclosed but if you want to backdown on a fish better there is control from the marlin tower as well. The engine room is stand-up height which helps maneuvering in the space for monitoring and maintenance.
