Review: Horizon Yachts 620

Horizon’s 620 is the latest in a new line of revised deckhouse motor yachts ranging from 62’ to 94’ in length. Long known for exceptional interiors, Horizon has taken interior space to a whole new level with an unheard of, stand-up engine room and workshop, that is accessed via a transom hatch. This aft-hatch provides adult-size clearance that leads to a lazarette, a perfect place for the vocationally inclined.

Review: Cape Horn 82' Expedition

Built with redundancy in mind, the Cape Horn 82' Trideck Expedition Yacht was designed to withstand the most grueling passages. A heavy gauge, double-planked steel hull is utilized to ensure safety in the shallows, while adding to the displaced weight beneath the waterline. This results in increased ballast and greater sea-keeping stability. To offset the weight of Cape Horn's hull, the superstructure is constructed from aluminum, which helps aids in reducing roll momentum.

Nifty New Tool - "Dock-A-Reni"

"FloatRail" - Emergency Floatation System

FloatRail is an interesting method to protect boats from sinking. It is installed inside a small rail just above the water line or hidden in a recess of the hull during boat manufacture.

The complete system is fully patented. It is manufactured from marine grade materials of modular design with scalable architecture. The system is activated manually or automatically. A patented automatic float switch is installed inside the hull. When a boat takes on water and it reaches a preset level, the hydrostatic pressure of the water trips the mechanical valve, which automatically deploys the system.

The FloatRail electronic control system supplements the basic automatic mechanical system. The electronic control system provides self-diagnostics for reliability assurance. It also allows for multiple and redundant sensors and early warnings...
