  1. The Shipyard: Listing Upload Instructions

For access to The Shipyard, contact: Carl (at) YachtForums (dot) com
Log-in credentials will be forwarded upon approval.

Step 1. After logging in to the Shipyard, click "Yacht Listings" on the left side of page, then click "Add Yacht Listing". This will take you to the listing specs page. Select the Builder from the drop down menu. If the builder is not on the list, you can manually enter the name of the builder.

    ***
  2. Step 1A. You have the option of manually entering the yacht builders name if not listed in the drop down menu.

  3. Step 2. Under "Yacht Model" enter a descriptive model designation, i.e. "Skylounge Motoryacht", as shown in this screen shot.

    ***
  4. Step 3. On the right side of the page, enter the Listing Title. This should include the year, make, length and model (in that order). An example is given on the menu.

    ***
  5. Step 4. The Listing Introduction should be a brief overview of the boat, such as... "Recent refit with low hours. This freshwater boat has always been covered and is in turnkey condition. Seller motivated"

    ***
  6. Step 5. Fill out the remainder of the specifications page as completely as possible. Drop down menus are provided to expedite the upload process. When complete, click the blue button titled "Save This Listing". These buttons are provided at the bottom of the specifications page and at the top right of the page.

    ***
  7. Step 6. After clicking the "Save this Listing" bar, you will automatically be forwarded to the "Yacht Images" page. If not, click "Upload Yacht Images" from the navigation bar on the top left of the page. A vacant box will appear allowing you to choose the images from a file on your computer. You have the option of selecting all the images at once and dragging them onto the vacant box, or you can drag one image at a time. Important: Please upload images in the order you would like them to appear. The best way to do this is to numerically designate each image. Alternately, you can choose to add "descriptors" for each image so you can drag them into the order you want during the editorial stage.

  8. Step 6A. This is desktop screen shot of a file showing the images numerically designated. If you don't choose to use "Descriptors" for images during the editorial process (next step), then simply number the images in the order you would like them to appear.

    ***
  9. Step 7. After dragging your images onto the Shipyard upload box, they will propagate into tiles (as seen in this example). With the image upload complete, click on the "Add New Descriptions" button and you will be taken to the next page that allows you to add editorial or descriptions for each image, essentially turning your listing into a feature.

    ***
  10. Step 8. An IMPORTANT step. You now have the option of adding descriptive editorial for each image. This not only allows you to convey specific details about each image that may be of interest to a buyer, but it will also aid in indexing your listing in major search engines. Click on the "Description Type" button and a list of yacht specific descriptors will open up. You can choose from the list, or you can manually add your own descriptor in the "Custom Type" box beneath the Description Type.

    ***
  11. Step 9. After choosing the description of the image, now click/select the image you will be adding editorial to. The screen will automatically scroll down to the text box, where you can add editorial specific to that image. When complete, click the blue "Save this Description" bar beneath the editorial box. The page will automatically refresh and you can repeat the process for the next image. Simply click "Add New Description" button at the top right of the screen to add editorial for any image.

    ***
  12. Step 9A. As an example, simply click the pic you will adding editorial. Notice the check circle filled-in for the top left image?

    ***
  13. Step 10. Here's an example of the editorial for the first image uploaded and how it displays in the broker control panel. Note the "Content Order" box located top right? Once several images have been uploaded, tiles will be created on the right side of the page that can be dragged into the desired display sequence. (IF you used image "descriptors" previously)

    ***
  14. Step 10A. After all the images have been uploaded with descriptors and editorial, tiles are created on the right side of the page that can be organized by simply dragging them to the desired display sequence.

    ***
  15. Step 11. When you are satisfied with your work, click the blue "Request Approval" button located on the Listing Wizard column on the left side of the page. Your listing will be sent to the Shipyard crew and will go live after review.

  16. Increasing Listing Exposure
    • Listings with the most descriptive and informative editorial will be considered for the front page of YachtForums.
    • Adding editorial to each picture not only makes a better presentation to buyers, but adds considerable indexing value in search engines.
    • Aggressively priced, well presented listings may be included in member mailers.*
