Retractable Bow Thruster

Lewmar has just launched the most powerful electric retracting thruster available. The 250VRTTE provides power and performance, typically aiding a 50ft (15m) sailing yacht or fast planing power boat to manoeuvre effortlessly in restricted space. The retracting capability offers a clean fair hull with minimum drag. The VRTT allows deeper immersion and has the flexibility to be fitted further forward than a standard Tunnel Thruster, for a better turning moment, but it still has all the benefits of TT technology.

The powerful 10HP electric motor is a cost effective alternative to the high cost of a hydraulic thruster normally chosen for this size of boat. Improved technology and engineering has enabled reliable electric operation to become a real alternative for higher work loads. Despite this advanced engineering and function, the thrusters are competitively priced. Installation and maintenance is straightforward, and the Electric motor is mounted inside the hull.

The VRTT features twin counter rotating props for giving performance of up to 160 kg force. Tough and robust, it is manufactured from all metal marine quality materials.
