Unfortunately her departure is delayed since Typhoon Soulik is passing very close to Xiamen which is about where the 12/18Z is on the map.

Aurora will be getting her first live water pressure test before ever leaving the yard!

    According to the Nordhavn Blog:

"Today we completed final ABS sea trials which included emergency crash stops, running at full speed ahead and instantly full speed astern, high speed turns, an hour of running at 100% power and a dozen other tests. Our final approval has been received and our ABS interim class certificate has been issued."

The highest speed I saw on marinetraffic.com was 14.4 knots!

Since marine operations in the Chinese ports of Fuzhou, Xiamen and Meizhou Bay have been suspended due to typhoon Soulik the departure of the 120 has been delayed until Tuesday.

I think if the Royal Vancouver Yacht Club saw that, he might lose his membership, terrible insult to home port flag.

That video was shot during the ABS certification process, so I am sure that the yard was the owner at that time. Many yards cover the name and home port until delivery.

AIS called the vessel Canadian Flag...he should have flown the Cdn flag on the jackstaff and the Chinese courtesy flag on the stb'd spreader

But the vessel probably wasnt fully handed over at the time the video was shot. So the fact that the Chinese flag is flying from the stern pole is incorrect? I see Lurssen yachts doing trials flying the german flag from the stern pole...Feadships, the Dutch flag...because they aren't handed over yet and they fly the yard's house flag from the main mast.

I see the vessel Aurora 2103 was registered in Canada 24 June 2013, dimensions do not quite match the 120 ,however builder etc all seems to match as do owners data... now, what was the date of the sea trials ?

Registered length quoted as 31.95 meters, now, Canadian measurement was changed a few years ago to be skin to skin not forefoot to rudder stock which the 31.95 might be, very odd...

The yacht was launched into the tank on April 23rd, was expected to be there for a month before being launched and finishing sea trials and ABS certification testing. Being registered in Canada on June 24th doesn't do anything to establish the ownership at the time of the Video, especially given the original plan to leave China on July 1.

That's why the date of the video would be important, don't you think ?

I am not clear on the basis for your questioning it. In my mind, In order for the date of the sea trial and ABS testing video to be of any significance, one would have to be assuming that

    a) The owner took possession of the yacht prior to the Sea Trial and ABS testing.

    or

    b) The owner registered the yacht prior to completion of the Sea Trial and ABS testing.

I just find both highly unlikely, especially given the 60 days that transpired between the launch and the registration.
