  1. Heesen Launches 70-meter "Galactica Super Nova" Superyacht
After a star-studded and fancy christening ceremony and final preparations, the 70-meter "Galactica Super Nova" (formerly Project 'Kometa') finally came from her build shed to taste fresh air for the first time since her mostly finished-state. Now that she is out and has her mast installed we are wondering if the installation is temporary. You may remember, with the 65-meter "Galactica Star", they had keep the sundeck area off until she made the transit under the low bridges on her way to Rotterdam.
  2. The design of Galactica Super Nova is by Espen Oeino with an interior by Sinot Yacht Design. The 70-meter superyacht was built in all-aluminium and based on the now popular Fast Displacement Hull Form (FDHF). The owner wanted a couple points to be met on the design as well as with her capabilities. For one, the top speed of 30-knots was required and it is only sea trials necessary to confirm her 30-knot top speed. Once this happens, Galactica Super Nova will take her speed title from her slightly smaller sister Galactica Star (which tops out at 28-knots).
  3. Another facet that was needed by the owner was the yacht must have a pool. On the aft main deck, overlooking the transom is where that pool is located. It is fitted with windows in the bottom which will serve to let light into the beach club directly below on the aft lower deck. When the pool is filled, the diffused and refracted light will cast a captivating effect into the beach club during strong daylight hours. This pool will also serve as the collection point for a waterfall feature that will egress from the aft upper deck overhang. Twelve guests can be comfortably slept in four cabins on the lower deck, an upper deck VIP-grade suite and the owner’s full beam master suite on the forward main deck. At 30-knots she will set the pace but for ocean-crossing range Galactica Super Nova has to be dialed back to 12 to 13-knots to make a 4,000 nautical mile range. Delivery is anticipated for May, 2016 and once that happens the owner plans to take her to Montenegro and the Mediterranean in the Summer before having her debut and displayed at the 2016 Monaco Yacht Show (MYS).
