It is hard to believe but the 160M superyacht m/y Dubai has a shadow. Now the first thing that would come to mind is why does the Dubai need a shadow? Dubai is certainly large enough to carry what she wants. However, what's more interesting is the type of vessel they chose to utilize. This vessel, Dubai Shadow does not look fitting to move along with Dubai, she is totally contrasted...looks like a converted research vessel. What do you guys think? http://www.shipspotting.com/modules/myalbum/photo.php?lid=378915 http://www.shipspotting.com/modules/myalbum/photo.php?lid=378914 http://www.shipspotting.com/modules/myalbum/photo.php?lid=378911
Ealier I was getting database error messages, but now it seems to be working. Yikes, ugly shadow. If I was cruising the world on Dubai I wouldn't even want to be seen in the same port as that shadow.
I would begin to wonder if the owner was a bit short of money after spending on the construction of the Dubai and could not afford a scratch built new shadow. That was just a thought, nahhhhh, that would be rediculous to think, these MiddleEaster people are being wet by a burst main full of money!
Here are a few... http://www.yachtforums.com/forums/g...-worlds-largest-yacht-525-platinum-dubai.html
The links to pictures of the Dubai Shadow prove, without a doubt, that the MY Bart Roberts was not used. I heard that MY Bart Roberts was sold, I checked and found that her home web page is still up: http://www.mvbartroberts.com/main.html We can see the differences between the two ships: MY Bart Roberts has the Helo-deck on the stern (with an expanding shelter), and her main house is aft. Also she has a Portuguese Bridge that was added during conversion from a Canadian Buoy Tender. Regards
Well yes Old One, there was speculation that the m/v Bart Roberts was going to be used as m/y Dubai's shadow boat.. but that was just speculation and as you said, it is clear that she will not be the shadow.
hey guys the yacht dubai shadow is orignally designed to carry the speed boats and jet skies which M.Y. Dubai could not carry..also the vessel have huge storage for the fishing, diving gear and food provision which the Dubai yacht requires...also when his highness goes he needs all his palace staff(apart from some 50 stewards onboard) with him who have accomodation on this shadow.Dubai shadow might be not so good looking but it surely serves her purpose.
Also for some wrong speculation made in this discusion...about M.Y.Bart Roberts..it was never suppose to be support vessel of yacht dubai..though the owner of the yacht is too from the royal family...its was in refit for a long time...but i guess it never came to sea with its new owner...i had been onboard that ship when it was in dubai...was a real peice of design...amazing!!
I found this: ""I was the Manager of a ship called "Australis Mentor" several years ago. In an earlier life the ship was a training ship for a Japanese maritime university, when her name was Umitaka Maru III. The vessel was home-ported in Fremantle, Western Australia for about a year, before she was sold to Dubai interests. converted and re-named "Dubai Shadow".""
Platinum yachts have recently put up some information about the "Dubai Shadow". The state that she is the shadow boat to a "Luxury Motor Yacht" and not definitively speaking to "Dubai". However, come on we can assume that she serves Dubai look at the Shadow's boot styling, it is the same as DUBAI's. http://www.platinumyachts.ae/platinumyachts/dubai_shadow.html
The Shadow has 4 tenders, 2 50ft fishing boats with performance engines... they hit 60kts and 2 36ft fishing boats with normal outboards... The shadow has all the water toys, it is massive, it has deep freezers (i have never seen bigger)... scuba and fishing gear etc etc... The Bart Roberts is not owned by the same person. it used to be berthed inside the palm island but I havent seen it in a while. I have been on the shadow a while back.. its a BIG boat and the rear deck is MASSIVE!
