The Cat 3412's , no comparison. Yep.
    Rock solid.
C32s, have a strange personality. Damm, there up to 1800 hp now.
I could never thrust that. Not a believer in the 1652 rating now..

No 1900 or 1950 hp out of the C32's now, I forget which.

The C32 ACERT Tier 3 Recreational (the white engine) maxes out at 1900 bhp. The C32 ACERT Tier 3 Commercial (the yellow engine) maxes out at 1800 bhp.

There blowing up at 1652, how can they pull 1900 out of them.
    1800 Commercial??? Usually greatly de-tuned.

I've heard that the early 1650hp ones are/did. 2007/2008 . I've heard they've been fine ever since. I've looked at a few yachts in that age range that had rebuilt or replacement engines.

The A-rating duty type C32 Commercial starts at 750 bhp.

It depends on how you run them too. I never push the 1650hp C32 in the 84' Lazzara i run. I often run around 20/22kts which is 45/48% load. A lot less wear and tear than 27kts cruise

    2009 & 10 I am referring to. I have learned a lot since we started working on a '09 Hat 72'.
Funny note, The extended warranty cost more on the replacement engines.

Afraid my Hat owner does not run hard enough. Last oil test, 6 in aluminum. No other materials were up (bearing materials).
Raised caution with Cat. Both engines.
1s and a 2 in previous oil tests.

I suspect floating & scuffing pistons.

I thought so too but couldn't find that on their web site. Max I could find was 1800 bhp. Perhaps I was in the wrong spot.

The colour means nothing. You can get them in just about any colour you want just like with many other manufacturers. Yellow is my prefferd colour. It does not go yellow and can be touched up from an aerosol can

While the C32 and C32 ACCERT look similar and share the same displacement they are completely different blocks, the "plain" C32 did indeed use the 3412 block. When the ACCERT first was released a lot of us builders thought great, more power in the same package but they are a considerably larger footprint in every dimension including weight..
