    Hi,

    That looks great.

It is nice to see people who can actually make things are still around.

The e mail thing here is not good as you can end up with heaps of spam from web bot things.

If someone wants/needs to make contact they can PM you.

    That is truly amazing work. I have some questions;
Was there a case failure or something in the assembly failed and damaged the case? Was wondering if beefing up some of the case areas (more webbing, thicker case, wider bearing landings) would be worth an idea.

    Hi All

And I can now reproduce the complete V-drive case.
It´s been "beefed" up in thickness and quality. CNC Machined from 1 solid special alloy aluminum block. The specialist say at least 3 times the strength of the original case.

See pictures of the 3D scannings..

5 weeks lead time from order/payment to shipment from Denmark.

PM or email me at REMOVED!

Set of gear tolerance in a MPM-V250 V-Drive

Set of tolerance in a MPM-V250 V-Drive with down angle.
    Tools needed:
    Plane table
    Indicator on a magnet stand
    Micrometer caliper
    Shims of various assortment.
    Lead wire-Soldering wire.

First decide which axel to start with.
I chose to start with the main axel. When a satisfactory gap has been achieved with only main axel mounted. Calculate the amount of shims used and make a note.
To set the correct gap, be prepared to assemble the house several times as there is some deflection in the aluminum house.
Next step is to find the right amount of shims for the secondary axel. This was achieved by assembling the house with the axel in position and bearing fitted with no shims. Tolerance was measured with an indicator on a magnet stand. This gave a rough measurement of the amount of shims needed. Next is to assemble the gear box with only the secondary axel and the correct amount of shims and test this with indicator. Make note of the amount of shims and fit that amount in a position so the gear has a maximum distance this means that all shims are to be fitted towards the incoming axel. Note that the diameters of the bearings are different so use the correct amount of shims of the right size, now insert a piece of lead wire between the sprockets and turn the gear.
It can be of help to use some tape or a small magnet to hold the lead wire in position when squeezing it between the sprockets. Be aware that this must take place when sprockets have a maximum clearance. Open the house and measure the smallest place on the lead wire to determine the tolerance. Now you can move the axels by adding and withdrawing the exact amount of shims from one side and adding to the other until the gap is approximately 15 hundreds of a mm. Be aware, that this must be done with the same amount and type of gasket that is intended to be used in the final assembly.

Feel free to ask if I am not clear ..

Hanzi, I have 2 upper and 1 lower gear for the V160/250M and need to have one more upper and 2 lower made. You mentioned a US company that can machine beveloid helical gears - I'd like to know who they are. You or someone has already made new housings for my customer. Please contact me at harbormarine @ hotmail.com, Thanks, Mike
