When I built the frames for my yacht I noticed that there were buttock lines mentioned at 300 intervals from the centre line but I could'nt see a use for them. Anyway after building the frames I thought I'd draw them in on the plywood and they dont seem to intersect anything that seems important or relevant, so now I'm curious did I need them drawn in before and I have made a mistake or is there another reason for them I'm not aware of?.

The way i under stand it: It's all about getting good fairing. I mean buttock, waterlines, radial all help in getting good fairing. Each like a usefull tool
