  1. Abeking & Rasmussen SWATH "Silver Cloud"

Not many builders have ventured into S.W.A.T.H platforms for motoryachts. The acronym S.W.A.T.H means Small Waterplane Area Twin Hull and there are numerous advantages to this hull technology.

The name Silver Cloud was once written on the sides of a monohull. In particular, this mono hull was a Feadship with a length of 143 feet. This is not to be mixed up with the small cruiseship of the same name. Now there is a new project under construction currently by Abeking and Rasmussen which seems to be the successor of the 143 foot Feadship.

The new A&R S.W.A.T.H vessel will be a bit smaller in length than the Feadship but will make up for it in stability and added space. The new Silver Cloud will be 133 feet long and 58 feet wide with a draft of 13.5 feet. The Naval Architect for this vessel is the Abeking and Rasmussen team and the interior design will be done by Kirschstein Designs Ltd and Susan Schuyler Smith of Spectrum Designs.

This particular S.W.A.T.H vessel will have a top speed of around 14 knots. 2 ,100 hp, turbo-charged Caterpillar C32 diesel engines will ensure that the Silver Cloud attains this speed. At a slower speed of 10 knots, she will be able to stretch her effective range to around 3,500 NM.

Construction of the new Silver Cloud will be a steel hull and an aluminum superstructure. The superstructure will feature room for a Saloon, Helipad, Sky Lounge, Bridge and accommodations.
