My son who grew up on my boats in the Northeast is in Stuart, FL and just earned his 100 Ton license. He is looking for work as a mate as he's still getting to know the ropes.

He attended Chapman's recently and has been working at West Marine part time for several years in CT and now in Stuart. He's had a side job in CT cleaning/maintaining boats as well as taking new boat owners out, showing them the Connecticut shoreline and teaching them about handling and safety on their new toys but new to FL and very eager to get to work.

If anyone is looking, he is a 21-year-old, very articulate, polite, well-mannered and handsome young man.

You are not biased are you? :D

He should move to Fort Lauderdale, almost un-limited yacht and boating opportunities there.
Capt. J is frequently looking for Mates and he provides sandwiches, transportation and instant payment. (I did several deliveries with him, kept me out of the bars for a while:cool:)
Numerous other opportunities on the Fort Lauderdale water front, tow-boats, water taxis, dealer deliveries, etc., etc.
    Good luck.

I own three boats that I keep behind my house on the St. Lucie river. I am looking for someone to help Captain/crew my 54' power cat and help take care of Boston Whaler 28 Vantage couple of seadoo's.

I need one good man to assist me transferring my Leopard 38 sailing catamaran from Destin to Ft. Lauderdale to sell it leaving Destin Sat morning 5/11. Anticipated arrival in Ft. Lauderdale will be 5/18 +/- a day or so depending on wind. All expenses paid + $3,000. Your son would be great from the sounds of it. Call or message if you need further details 949-500-1879.

So what do you think of Chapmans? I was thinking it might be something I could get my son to do?
He is already the mate on a 65' for a year, and has been boating and fishing since a young boy.
He certainly can keep on his present track, but I would like him to get some formal training under a structured program.

Sounds like you won't have to work too hard on your son. He has the bug.
I am all for certification and progression and training in one's chosen field.
I hope @CTdave can be of assistance. Sounds like his son is off to the races!
