I need to replace the A/C unit under the aft. cabin bed. There isn't space to get it out. What do I have to take apart?

What size carver do you have? Have you tried taking the mattress off and seeing if the bed support lifts up?

    Sorry, its a 1997 405.

I've taken the mattress off and the center access board out which provides visual access tot he water tank and the A/C unit. The problem is there isn't enough room between the water tank and fiberglass framing to get the A/C out.

There must be a way but I don't see it..............

i have a 405 but not a oem ac in the aft cabin i installed mine in a different space. however i know the head board comes out too. i did have to remove and replace my water tank. if its out of the way will it come out then? its really not a big deal to remove it. does the ac sit beside the water heater? its probably the only way.

The head board most likely comes off.

You may have to cut a bigger access panel. Usually interior stuff is just plywood so it's easy to cut out. Then screw/glue some supports around the edge to convert into permanent access oanel

I have the same boat a carver 405. He can get it out if he moves the water tank .which comes out through the access under the mattress. That leaves a hole 3 people can get in. I posted this earlier do any of you read earlier posts sometimes it doesn't seem so. Especially when someone has the exact boat. Invite you to carveryachtowners forum. With carver owners replying.

having to move a water tank to remove an air con is one stupid design flaw.

I agree. I didn't design it but it is what it is. Thats why I installed my aft cabin ac aftermarket unit elsewhere. I bet every boat owner can rub their head and ask the same thing of something on their boat too.
