Hi all, I was wondering if anyone had any good or bad reviews to share on this boat. I put an offer in on one and its the original 454 mervruiser engines, cosmetically she's perfect. One of the engines had water intrusion from a failed manifold so the engine was taken out replaced rods rings pistons on 2 of the 4 cylinders and head then new risers and manifolds on both. The engines have 650 hours
Where and how will you be using the boat? Will it be more of a weekend condo on the water or are you planning on taking extended trips etc? That boat is on the upper end of the size/weight range for gas power imho...
A bit of everything really from boating in the Chesapeake to taking her on longer trips to ocean city for extended stays. I'm also looking at a 1995 Sea Ray 440 EB with cats 3126 and 840HP.
Very nice boat, and those engines are just adequate. They will be working hard running on a plane, but very happy and economical cruising at low speeds. You won't get long life out of them if you are going to be using them for 300-mile runs on a plane each way to Ocean City, but they are pretty cheap to replace in yachting dollars. Newer versions offered the 8.1 engines, which would bolt right in, basically the same block, and an excellent engine for that weight boat. I do love diesels, but for recreational boats this size, gassers can be a good choice.
