Trinity Yachts Unaffected by Hurricane Isaac
Both Yards and All Employees Doing Fine

Here are details regarding affects on Trinity Yachts’ New Orleans, Louisiana and Gulfport, Mississippi yards following landfall of Hurricane/Tropical Storm Isaac.

    • The New Orleans yard was hit by a Category 1 hurricane while the Gulfport yard was hit by a tropical storm with 9’ of storm surge.

    • There was no damage to the Gulfport yard or to any of the yachts and other vessels under construction. The yard will return to work tomorrow, August 31.

    • The New Orleans yard did take a direct hit but the recently completed floodgates protecting the city of New Orleans did their job protecting the city. Despite a storm surge of 11’, the shipyard is located inside of the new levee protection system and had about 18” of water come over the bulkheads, which is not a problem for the shipyard.

    • The only damage to the New Orleans shipyard was to some roof panels of the covered wetslip which was not occupied at the time.

    • The Trinity built 164’ (50m) MIA ELISE—which was moored at the New Orleans yard for some maintenance work and modifications—had no problems during the storm. The crew, led by Captain Ron Wood, did a great job preparing the yacht for the approaching storm and she suffered no damage.

    • The New Orleans yard will reopen as soon as the City of New Orleans restores power.
