The most recent launch by Oceanfast Sea Bowld is said to be docked in Florida. Does anyone have any good pictures of her yet? I'd like to compare them to pictures of her close sister Lurssens Ronin (ex-Izanami) designed by Sir Norman Foster... thanks
I may be taking a cruise this weekend by Bahia Mar & Pier 66. If I see Sea Bowld, I will most certainly take some pictures. Thanks for the heads up!
i had know idea Sea bowld had anything in common with Ronin. I havent seen Sea Bowld yet but will be dissapointed if she is an undercover naval ship like Ronin. Dont get me wrong Ronin is an amazing yacht and beautiful in her own right but compared to todays designs she leaves a little to be desired.
Sorry Maarten, I didn't get out on the water this weekend, but I have plans to take a day off this week and go for a cruise. I'll keep an eye out for Sea Bowld and will return with pics if I see her.
I just had a look at her and sure enough she is or could be a sister ship.... i think a cross between Aussie Rules and Ronin would be precise.
Good luck finding her, hope to see some of your pictures soon! Personally I do not see any connection in design between Aussie Rules and Sea Bowld (at all), the connection between Sea Bowld and Ronin however I find hard to deny! I wonder what Lurssen/Sir Norman Foster think of Sea Bowld, and if they were involved in any way in her design. Any thoughts?
Other than her Navy looks i would like to now what connections Ronin does have, i know Aussie Rules and Sea Bowld where built by same company so there is definetly a connection there but other than the Industrial lines id like to know the other connections if there are any.. Did the owner buy the plans for Ronin and use them or is it built to do same job and that is why appearance is similar..
Here are pictures of Izanami (now Ronin), Sea Bowld and Aussie Rules. It is easy to sea the inspiration from Izanami but really nothing from Aussie rules. The design of the "sisters" bear the same military style hull and partly the superstructure but they are not twins.
Thanks for the pictures much appreciated. I more ment that Aussie Rules and Sea Bowld have the builder in common which has about as much in common with two yachts that look the same but share no dimensions.. And to tell the truth i didnt realise that Ronin stored the tenders on back and that was more my comparison with Sea Bowld's sister in build Aussie Rules. I appolagise for my ignorance i should have looked further before writing... my bad
Hey Maarten! I've got some pics for you! These were taken the day after Christmas at Bahia Mar. I was down to the marina for a meeting with the captain of the new Palmer Johnson 123' "Alter Ego". Although I was at the Hall of Fame Marina (just north of Bahia Mar), I spotted Sea Bowld while crossing the Las Olas bridge and remembered you wanted pictures. I had to go into Bahia Mar's parking lot to get the pics, so you owe me $3.00 for parking. Here's the stern and tender...
Thanks a lot, just let me know where to send you the money I still think she looks a great deal like Ronin, way too much if you ask me! It looks as if her lines a softer though, more yacht, less navy.. It will be interesting to see if she'll make an appearance in any of the magazines any time soon.. Maybe you can convince the captain to give YachtForums an exclusive look around!
I agree... the resemblance to Ronin is striking. While others may not prefer a yacht with a naval/military signature, I enjoy the diversity of design. Keeps things interesting! Oh yeah, I had one more picture I took from across the intracoastal. Phones were ringing and I forgot to upload it. Here it is...
I'll knock on the door next time I go down the dock. Seriously, it would be nice to get some interior pics. I might be able to aquire them. More on that later... In the meantime, I was granted the exclusive rights to take pictures of Sea Bowld while cruising by on the dinghy... Here's one last pic. Enjoy...
Maarten, you don't have a good look in the update of "Yacht Position"! Sea Bowld was in a shipyard in the Dania cut-off Canal in FL few days ago. I'm waiting new pictures of her from an US spotter...
