    hello
the total rebuild of my lovely vintage Feadship is almost finished - literally everything has been replaced including the deck , services, ancillaries, wiring, plumbing, stabs, thruster, shafts and engines as well as having had 30sq mts of hull plating replaced, so she is now in effect a new boat - she has an entirely new light-oak interior with a new granite-topped galley and 3 new heads . The new Pilot House is built and ready to be fitted . She is currently at Fox's Yard in Ipswich (Suffolk on the East coast of UK) having some remaining engineering done while hull is being filled /faired prior to being painted. We hope she'll be completed by end of year - we are planning to do sea trials in /around Ipswich around Jan /feb then shes going down to the Med in April either on her own bottom via Biscay or on a transporter ship (probably to be based in Imperia in NW Italy). I'm posting some pics here but if anyone who is interested in seeing more photos sends me a private message with an email address , I'll be happy to send you additional pics.

Please post more pictures of this wonderful little ship.

I think alot of people will enjoy the proceedings of the rebuild in a picture documentation.

    Keep posting the pictures.
I really like the interior style.

Werner design has a yacht that looks a bit like your feadship

Should take a look at it, see below.

Tiky / Alto Volante - vintage Feadship

thanks - I thought long and hard over several moths about the "look" and "feel" that I wanted and eventually opted for (what I hope is) a neutral look that could be contemporary, or look original to the early sixties (or earlier . We used light oak for the BHs and furniture with horizontal grain and shadow gaps to break up the BHs. The flooring is random teak plank veneer on ply. She did not originally have a plot house but I thought she needs one for owner & crew comfort (it's either too hot or too cold) and also because I thought she looked a but naked without a PH, especially as she is a 10kt displacement cruising boat rather than a fast commuter... however the aft screen of the PH is interesting in that all the aft screen windows are lowered electrically and disappear into the lockers and the doors are easily removable for stowage in the aft deck seating , so the PH can be completely closed-up in inclement weather (and/or used a crew cabin) or completely opened up in hot weather

indeed - very nice! they probably copied Alto's design! :). in fact, at one time I thought of having a similar, (ie mixed white/teak) PH but opted for a cleaner all white finish with teak trim ...which was also easier and cheaper to build but Im sure many will think was a mistake ...the saloon/galley open plan layout is similar to Alto (Alto's original interior had the galley closed off and isolated from the saloon) but I suppose that's fairly standard now but I prefer my choice of light oak to the darker teak (or mahogany) they used .

I have the book of Feadships history and found only 2 sentences about Tiky.
Its a great book and when you have a classic Feadship you should definately get this book.

    Super!!!!

What color will you paint the hull?

I like the light oak interior, makes it look nice and fresh and not to oldfashioned.

thanks - in fact the interior looks a lot better in flesh. I chose light oak partly because it is, as you rightly say nice and fresh, but also because light oak is a very traditional material for a yacht interior, so although it looks fairly modern it is in fact sympathetic to the period in which she was designed and built (ie late 1950's /1960s)

At one time I was considering painting the hull duck egg blue, which is also a typical colour of the 1960's, but I wasn't 100% certain about it and if it didn't suit her it would have been a costly mistake to rectify, so we are taking the safe route and going for Awlgrip Off-White.
    regards

thanks - when I found her in Majorca she was tired and looked slightly odd with her ugly and inappropriate 1980's Pilot House but she was nevertheless clearly a "classic" - I knew there would be a lot of work required but I had no idea that she would in effect need a total rebuild. After 2 failed attempts to do it by remote control in Majorca and then in la Ciotat we brought her to the UK. Landamore's did a superb job but I have pride of authorship, not just 'cos I signed the cheques but more importantly because I personally designed and drew up almost every detail of the interior, as well as the the new Pilot House .
    best
