My last cruise of 2004 was simply the best. I was able to find several unique yachts that may test the knowledge of our most seasoned enthusiasts and owners. If you've been lurking around YachtForums and have not yet "spoken up"... I hope these pictures will encourage you to join us and share your knowledge. We'd all like to hear from you. :)

The first one is fairly easy, but there have only been two built like this (so far). This is "Wombat". She is 80 feet long and was launched in 2004. She was preceded by a sistership named "Magpie", which was a few feet shorter and launched in 2000.

    Can you name the builder?

Here's a lousy, "sun in the lense" picture of the bow. It's a shame I didn't have the sun at my back, as the detail and workmanship is stunning...

OK, I'll admit it... I'm stumped on this one. This is "Shacar". Does anyone know anything about this yacht?

Here's a slightly different angle on Shacar...

This one's a little easier, as it's been featured for sale in a few magazines over the years. Still, it's unique and the first time I've seen this yacht in person.

Looks fast sitting still. Notice the airfoil winglets that jettison out from the radar arch? That should be a good indication of the speed this boat was built for... as there's hardly enough surface area to make any difference at 50-60 mph. Wanna guess how fast it is?

This is "Tiffany", a very dramatic departure in yacht design. Can you name the designer and the builder?

Another angle. Was she ahead of her time? The Alpha was!

If you are a serious enthusiast (and we have the best on the net), you will probably know this yacht. For others, this one could prove a little more challenging. It's sometimes difficult to find new, unique yachts in the same geographic area. I was excited to see "Gazelle"!

Love 'em or hate 'em... some of the most interesting design appendages to ever decorate a yacht...

Let's take a step back to the Golden era, when commuters ruled the waterways. "Liberty" was built to re-capture a historic time in nautical history... and has done so in grand fashion. TRULY an amazing re-creation. Sooo... who can tell us about Liberty?

Thankfully, there are lots of windows. Otherwise... you would have EVEN MORE wood to maintain.
