  1. 120-meter Superyacht 'Amara' Unveiled By OceAnco
Dutch custom superyacht builder OceAnco unveiled their latest design today at the ongoing Dubai International Boat Show (DIBS). The design is called 'Amara' and is a 120-meter ‘resort-style’ private yacht designed for extended families to enjoy. Speaking of the design, it was penned by Sam Sorgiovani Design and is packed with exciting features all over. “In designing the exterior lines of Amara, I wanted to portray a very strong and muscular form that was progressive in design but with a timeless appeal,” says Sorgiovanni. Its long bow accentuates the vessel’s generous proportions. Most importantly, the interior and exterior design work in harmony to create a holistic feeling of a relaxed well-appointed resort.
  2. Amara is designed for extended families and friends and therefore expands on many of the regular big-yacht features you would expect. Accommodation for twenty (20) guests is provided and many of the entertainment spaces onboard are designed to be finished to a contemporary flair featuring natural timbers, stones and textural carpets. The lounges for example showcase a subdued flair with darker tans and creams juxtaposed by natural stone veneers. Pops and splashes of colour are seen in the throw cushions and accent ornaments throughout the space.
  3. Here is another view of the same lounge but from the other side of the space. Clearly you can see a small bar backed by an aquarium –a great conversational piece for guests sipping on their favourite cocktail-. The furniture is embedded in purpose-built wooden encasements that utilize space efficiently. The sides have been notched-out to allow for magazine and book storage thereby eliminating the need for a dedicated book press or shelves in the space. It aids in the defined but cleans lines of the space. While we are in this lounge, take note of the full height windows available.
  4. As you would expect on a 120-meter superyacht in this day-and-age a beach club is a staple feature. Amara has a beach club located in the traditional aft lower deck position. While down below is close to the water and for relaxation, it allows for the launching watersports activities if that is what you are into. Otherwise, the area is fitted with large sofas and table. To the port side you can find a station with gym equipment and a large flatscreen is on the wall to keep you motivated. The opposite side has more sofas and a similar flatscreen to show your favorite flick in a relaxing atmosphere. The beach club also has a bar where the attendant can shake and stir your favorite cocktail.
  5. The beach club can be opened on all three sides thanks to large shell doors on port and starboard as well as the transom door. The space is indoor but truly open for the sea level breezes to freely traverse. With the shell doors extended down to sea level, the real estate of the area increases slightly. It is certainly large enough to place several sun loungers for guests to stretch out on right by the water’s edge. An important feature of the space is the large skylight along the centerline of the room. That is formed because the bottom of the main pool directly above on the aft main deck is glass bottomed.
  6. The lower deck isn’t only about the beachclub and waterside relaxation. You can also be rejuvenated in the wellness area, with hammam and beauty treatment room. There is also a banya along with a full cinema room for as many as 16 persons at a time. All of these features are available on the lower deck of Amara. The below photo suggests how the extended beach/swim platform can be accessorized and customized for relaxation as well.
  7. The sundeck is the highest guest deck and space onboard the 120-meter superyacht Amara and is divided into three distinct spaces with a forward outdoor area, a mid-indoor region and an aft open area. It is reasonable to believe these areas could easily be covered by sun awnings if needed but in the photo below the suggestion is to utilize the aft section as an outdoor cinema. Interestingly, the cabana style covering is reminiscent of tents pitched in the desserts of Gulf States. It presents an extremely comfortable and relaxing semi-sheltered region to watch a movie.
  8. There is a full gym with a capital view located on the bridge deck. For intimate gatherings there are two Majilis-style areas aboard. For young guests and those young at heart, there are accommodations for fun sports equipment such as a climbing wall and water slides. A helipad is situated on the bow for hosting landings of an executive-class helicopter. A waterfall from the upper deck cascades down into the main deck swimming pool. And the main deck is party central, featuring a stunning pool bar, opening balconies and large entertainment areas. The upper deck has an outstanding owner’s apartment with a private plunge pool and openair aft deck dining for 20+ people. Amara is a stunning new design by Sam Sorgiovani Designs in cooperation with OceAnco. She is a globetrotting superyacht that will take you from the crystal waters of the Maldives to the iconic Caribbean islands, from the ancient marvels of the Mediterranean to the golden sands of Sri Lanka, in privacy, safety, and tranquility.
